The species under consideration is the sailfin catfish (Pterygoplichthys pardalis). The chemical compounds involved in this study include methanol, ascorbic acid, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), trichloroacetic acid (TCA) at a concentration of 20%, sulfuric acid (H2SO4), sodium hydroxide (NaOH), methyl orange, borax, hydrochloric acid (HCl) at a concentration of 0.01 N, tris base, petroleum ether, hydrochloric acid (HCl) at a concentration of 6 N, deionized water (dH2O), acrylamide, N,N’-bis-methylene-acrylamide, glycine, ammonium persulfate (APS), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), N,N,N’,N’-tetramethylethylenediamine (TEMED), Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250, and glacial acetic acid. All the chemicals and reagents used in this study were of analytical grade and procured from Merck in Germany.
