We have worked out a concentration of sodium chloride and trisodium citrate at which DNA under repeated use, can be preserved indefinitely under any room temperature. We have preserved DNA at room temperature for over three years in a parafilm wrapped Eppendorf tube and have used it occasionally for research activity. The stock after 3 years was found to have been dried up due to slow evaporation from the parafilm wrapped tube kept under air conditioning for 8h a day and 5 days a week. However, after re-suspension, DNA was found intact even after such a prolonged period of preservation.
