A random block copolymer called Poly(2-oxybutane-1-yl(4-oxynapthalene-1-yl)Sebacoylate [PONS] was synthesized using 1,4-napthalenediol, 1,2-butane diol and sebacoyl chloride. The formation of copolyester was confirmed using various techniques like UV, FTIR, NMR spectral techniques. Thermal studies were conducted using TGA. Elemental analysis and gel permeation chromatography were also carried out to confirm the formation of the copolymer and to determine the molecular weight of the copolyester. The morphology of the copolyester was characterized using SEM. The findings of the investigation strongly suggest the synthesis of such a thermally stable copolyester for specific applications in the field of copolyester.
